Zog was all alone in his cave (as usual) a few nights ago. But some of THESE things took pity on him and stopped by for a visit: :yikes

Actually, several at a time were flying in and out of the cave, but only shots of one (at a time) managed to come out with any clarity:

Another backside view, in what pilots call a "coordinated turn-and-bank". Sorry about the "full frontal nudity :banned

Wow you were quick to capture these bats in flight.
They are pretty quick to take off usually.

We have some really big Bats in the Park at the end of town,
I see them quite often as I walk to my car in the evening.

Nice going Corehead :clap .... Skippy :D

Nice shots. That had to take a lot of effort, and nerve.

:agree You must have technique worked out to get them while in frame.
Or perhaps crop to a frame.

OK, just so you all know: to get the bat shots, I set my focus to 6 feet, cut my flash to 2/3 full, opened the aperture wide, set the shutter at 1/500 sec...and waited for either the flutter of little wings or the FEEL of them very lightly across my face.

Then I took, literally, a "shot in the dark" and hoped for the best.

Had to crop all of them, of course.

Just so you know, and thanks for looking!
