Hey You'll,
Normally I avoid contests, challenges, POTDs, etc like the plague. I have reluctantly decided to enter a couple of pics in the St. Augustine Alligator Farm's
photography contest in the bird and general categories. Last year's winner came be seen here. http://www.alligatorfarm.com/ (click on Groups and Events).
Anyhow I have the general category down to these 4 pics. Which one would you go with?

I would go with the three baby chicks photo. They are all very good but I think that one stands out.

i'd go with the chicks being fed . all are outstanding, but the chicks really stand out (especially compared to last year's contest winners). who knows what is submitted to them...maybe a big time gator guy is doing the judging (that poor spoonbill!). it seems to me that most bigtime wild life photos are either portaits of hard to sneak up on/ rare animals or depictions of the animal's biology/natural history at work. if that is in any way true...mom and chicks it ishttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Your problem is that you just have too many super photographs to choose from.

About all I can say is that I like #1 least. If that helps at all.
I still wonder about those woodstork babies. (Of course I am partial to woodstorks and am kind of overdosed on egret chicks.)

I going for the last pic .
I think it shows the natural actions of the bird, not just the bird.

I like the 3 chicks best because its seems more unique than the others. All of very well done.

#1 or #2. I prefer the spoonbill though. Tough choice.

Three has the best composition and lighting, and you can see all of the birds faces, unlike #1. Nice pics.

Harry,
This is a very tough decision. They are all good. I think that the community of the alligator farm viewers would enjoy #3 the best because the photo is technically very good, including that you can see all of their faces, and the subject is always a winner.

I'm between #2 and #4.
I really love the colors in the spoonbill's wings along with the lighting. So I guess I'm leaning more towards #2.

As in part I all the responses were quite helpful. The consensus agrees with my wife, Linda, so I'm going to go with the great egret chicks as my entry.
