Glad to see you posting over here:D. I like #1 better because of the clouds and the contrast of the water. I think it has more punch than #2, but #2 is also a nice composition.

Also, I know how much you like to shoot bugs, here is a link to the other forum where I posted a couple of bugs for ya. You were taking your TT photos during this time and probably missed the post. So here it is in case you missed it.

I like 'em both. Nice work. I've always liked the look/feel of a small twisty road under a canopy of trees. This is nice with the curve that leads you into the photo but disappears.

On the first I'd like to see a longer focal length used. This would give us less of the framing (the trees) and make the boathouse (the subject in this case) a more prominent part of the photo. The longer focal length would make the near and far objects appear closer. The only problem with that idea is the loss of DOF - there might not be enough to have it all in focus.

yeah I have a shot like that... but of course the trees and foreground are OOF... actually the only reason both are in focus in this shot is cause I blended to shots together LOL. I havn't processed any of the rest of them yet though.

HA HA!! I understand. I was wondering how you were getting them in the DOF with F2 anyway. Now I see. Time for the IR conversion so you can use F8 :rofl

I plan on having mine converted once I get around to upgrading - keep the 717 as an IR-only cam. Don't think that'll be any time soon though.

Hey Dani,

I love the second shot and the way the bending road draws you into the frame... great stuff. I'm also impressed how sharp the leaves are in the first shot - what kind of shutter speeds do you get when using IR? I'm using the D70 and usually need a couple of seconds at f/10.

Thanks John. With the sony nightshot... usually 1/40th to 1/60th... but you are limited to no faster than 1/60th and f/2.0

I'm such a sucker for a well done IR shot that I love both of these. They both have great appeal imo for different reasons, and the processing is top-notch.

Between you and Andy and the other IR shooters here, maybe it's time for a dedicated IR forum? Put up a few stickies with the basics and open it up for business. I'm fighting the temptation to send my Rebel out for the mod, just hard to let 'my baby' (first dslr...) go :D .

Anyway, sorry to ramble all over your thread-great shots, look forward to seeing more.
