Hi,
Is there a way to disabling share option after the video has played?
I don't want visitors to be able to in bed or email any of the videos
regards
Viv

Viv, Not at this time. Please remember that the videos are downloading to the visitors computer to play. It is possible to save them at that point and do what they want anyway.

Hi,
I understand that and I do believe that most users out the are honest
Can we add this feature to our wish list?
Thanks

The 'Share' option after the video has played is only present when you embed a video using the SmugMug player on another web site. One option is to use your own player rather than SmugMug's player but still to play the video that is hosted on SmugMug. Here is an example & the code necessary http://www.propertyvideofrance.com/mandelieu-apartment
src="http://www.propertyvideofrance.com/images/stories/videos/mediaplayer/flvplayer.swf"
width="730"
height="410"
bgcolor="undefined"
allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true"
flashvars="controlbar=over&file=http://barkersvideo.smugmug.com/photos/518472980_6Pdrd-960D.mp4&image=/images/stories/videos/ApartmentPleinSoleil-730x410.jpg&title=Apartment Plein Soleil"

I hesitate to offer that as a solution as it is not official or supported. If you use your own player and have problems, I cannot help. Also, because this is not officially supported, it is very possible that it may stop working due to future changes to the system. If that happens, you would need to switch back to the supported player.

I tried to add my video but can't get it to play
I have a joomla site I used the movie player that comes with joomla and it plays his video perfectly

I'm not sure if that has to with his video been a .mp4
Thanks anyway

You need to get the correct link to the actual video file on SmugMug.
To find the correct file before clicking to play your video hover your mouse pointer over the right hand side of the video & a little fly out window labelled Save Movie will appear (assuming that you have this option enabled). Click on that window & you will see a list of various sizes of video available.
Right click on e.g. iPod/DVD & use 'Copy Link' or however your browser describes this function. This is the actual .MP4 file that is stored on SmugMug in the case of the video we are discussing http://barkersvideo.smugmug.com/photos/518472980_6Pdrd-640D.mp4. The HiDef file will be http://barkersvideo.smugmug.com/photos/518472980_6Pdrd-1280D.mp4 the Web one http://barkersvideo.smugmug.com/photos/518472980_6Pdrd-320D.mp4 The only change in the filename is in the last part before 'D.mp4'
Use this file link in your video player.

Share shows up even if you play the video on SmugMug. Just gotta wait until the end.
I also use the externally hosted player hack to enable auto-play, as well as have a "playlist" of auto-playing videos (great for concert videos). I then embedded this player in the gallery description of an empty SmugMug gallery.
Only downside is having to manually construct RSS feeds for the playlist. (It wasn't important enough for me to actually write an actually feed converter. Consider it a proof of concept.):

Share shows up even if you play the video on SmugMug. Just gotta wait until the end.I couldn't understand why I hadn't seen this & just realised it's because I am using a Mac & they use Quicktime player not the SmugMug Flash player. I just checked on a Windows machine & indeed the Share button is there after the video has played even when I have set the gallery to no 'External links' & no 'Easy sharing'. This is a pretty bad bug that appears to have been present forever. It doesn't bother me but others who don't want to share their videos are rightly upset.

Not exactly a bug. This has been present from the very beginning. I have tried many times to make it very clear that your videos are downloaded to the visitors computer to play. Once that happens it is very easy to save or copy the files. Then they are free to upload them to any site they wish. So disabling the share links is a false sense of security. Yes, there is a difference between the Mac and PC players. This is one of the biggest. We are looking at many different options for the future. I am pretty sure that this is something that is on the list.

There doesn't seem much point in offering the option of switching off 'Easy Sharing' in Customise Gallery if sharing is still going to be present for any viewers using Windows.

Any update to a solution to this problem? I had a video that I embedded to one of my websites and it was viewed about 400 times from that site. It was viewed an additional 12,000 times on other websites that embedded the video on to their sites.
I understand that the video downloads to a persons computer once it is played, but to have a "share this video" link at the end of the video just makes it so much easier for others to steal. Also, if someone downloads a video and then re-hosts that video, at least they are using their own bandwidth when their viewers watch the video.

Because it's another system to register on, read privacy policies, etc. :deal That kept me from doing it.

it's incredible ... I've choose smugmug for privacy, no adds, customer support ... months ago ask for this normal behavior - do not show share button on video, I choose you only to play my movies, let me choose if I want or not to share my files.
Although I didn't see any changes on smugmug software for some months I wonder what could be so hard for your programmers in order to remove this add "share button".
Any way, I'm satisfied with your services but the fact that you decide to give others the option to share my files without my approval is killing me. :(

You'll want to subscribe to our Release Notes blog, so that you don't miss a single update from SmugMug :) http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/ at the bottom, there's a link for Entries (RSS) - put that in your favorite feed reader.

Been after this feature for a while as Ive been inserting the code that hides the share/download button for each gallery with videos Id rather not have downloaded easily. Hopefully it will be coming soon :)

This is great if coming soon.
One question though. Im using the script that hides the save buttons.
If this goes ahead Ill be going back into my CSS section and deleting the code and using the "turn save off" option for videos in the gallery settings.
Ive got a lot of galleries that I have added the code for to turn off the video save though. - And I doubt I will be be able to remember which is which.
Is there a way to find out which gallery is which by linking it by the gallery number that I have listed in the CSS code??

Is there a way to find out which gallery is which by linking it by the gallery number that I have listed in the CSS code??Yes, this is possible assuming that you also have the album/gallery key. I don't have specific galleries in my CSS, but I believe I remember that tuning off required gallery number and key.

from the latest release notes: http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/
Updated the video player in the gallery to show the share link at the end only if you have easy sharing enabled. If you want to hide that link in an embedded video, you can modify the url to add ’se=0′.

Replace YOURNAME with your smugmug name and GALLERYNUMBER_GALLERYKEY with the gallery number and key combination in your CSS.
