She is studying to become a mathematics teacher. I used her on a thread (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1009&message=13148378) on STF where a lot of people complained about the background (even though I had chosen the background specifically).

She was explaining to me how she would solve a problem (Yehuda would appreciate this as it's a Logo problem). For Yuri: I was experimenting with ISO800 using available light...

...in the computer lab (also ISO800). I softened the frown lines which I got from her looking up ...

...she agreed to model for me one afternoon (no Ginger, she didn't think I was freaky). I filled a 512MB CF memory card and of those this is my favourite...

Do these backgrounds worry you?

The first and second ones are good (though the first picture seems to have a bit of motion blur maybe?) but the last one could use a really soft background with a shallow DOF. :dunno

Priviet, Alan!
Your interests are so many-sided!
I like the results!
Think that you can make the 1 photo 'interesting' if you'll:
1 Copy layer
2 Select all around your 'model' (Filter-> Extract.
Edge Highlighter tool for selecting 'Model', Fill tool to fill all around)
2 Filter -> Blur -> Radial blur. Zoom (around 10)
3 Use Healing brush for finishing editing.
You'll get zoom effect.

As for the 2 and 3 - they are very good.
But try next time 3/4 face poses.
Also more tight crop can be used, I think.
Good job, my friend!

Thanks for looking Chase. The motion blur you see is probably camera shake on my part :cry). Next time I do anything like this I'll use aperture priority to force the camera into using a larger aperture.

Thanks Yuri. Unfortunately, I don't use PS (I use PSP) so I'll have to try other ways to see the effect you are suggesting. Does it blur the whiteboard completely?

As always, I appreciate your comments.

No, Alan!
This makes a 'zooming' effect (like you're zooming to the object)
