It all started by this discussion about Lumiquest vs Lightsphere (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=12871).

Then we decided to organize a little meeting/dinner (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=13058).

We met with DavidTO on Friday night at TGIF:
(this shot was taken with David's 20D)
http://nik.smugmug.com/photos/24661749-M.jpg

had a nice talk/beer/dinner and then proceeded with some shooting.

This fella guards the Northern Entrance to a big outdoor mall called Janss Marketplace:

Him again - now with the help of my "one-light-stand":

David was shooting his 20D, so he didn't have to hassle with the light and could simply relax:

There is another guy on the Southern Entrance:

A few more piccies from that night are here:

And as the result of this meeting I invented a poor man's flash diffuser (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=13138):-):clap

Thanks, David, it was a great night!:thumb
Hope to see more ppl next time!

PS

Waxy, Michiel, Gubbs - you would not believe this...
Only by the end of the night I realized that this indian fella with the bow is standing right in front of the brand new Bucca di Beppo - same chain that we dined at in SF. Similar interior, pictures everywhere.. I guess it will now become a de facto place for photo-meetups:-)

Isn't that ISO 3200? And where's the shots of you? Nik, I think you're shy!

It was fun. Big ol' glass of Guiness, a nice juicy steak (hey, Nik, we forgot pics of the grub!) and some practice night shooting. My schedule's really tight this weekend, so I may not be able to compete with Nik, but it was a blast!

Even with an angle finder, you're in the dirt? :lol3

Sorry I missed it guys. Anyone in Chicago this week?

Yessir, it was..:-)
It's a bit noisy on 100%, but looks good if scaled down..

Not an angle finder:-) And this surface is shampooed prolly everyday, if not twice a day:-), so it's dslr-safe:-)

I remember you were telling you may get to LA some time soon.. neh?
Cheers, Sid!:1drink

Hey, you know I'm on a Mac, so I can't possibly keep up with the upload speed of Star*Explorer!

Actually, my weekend is incredibly packed, more to do than there are hours...

...but I'm uploading my shots now, and I'll throw them in the thread when I find a moment.

And for everyone else: get out and shoot with a friend. It's great.

OK, so here goes.

First, a picture of the food....

oh, that's right. That's the point at which we were too hungry to shoot.

Ah, well, onto the Indian Statue that we were practicing on

Dang flood lights really cramped our style:

So I closed in for the kill:

Nik ran off with the CF card with all of our restaurant shots, so I've got none of him in there, but here's one where we were testing the LightSphereII. You can see that his modeling is in "testing the flash diffuser" mode.

And, finally, the troublemakers:
