Thanks Gubbs- That was one of the few attempts I've made at an "arty" fly macro.

fantastic colours, composition and detail :clap:clap:clap
:agree This one has that it's a macro pic look but still gives you something more to look at. The lines of the leaves, the colors, and the sharpness make this one great macro shot:clap

I'm not one for spiders, just a little irrational fear. A wonderful set of macros, as was your last set too. You did a nice job on the colors and lighting, they really pop.

Thanks for sharing,
Chris

Thanks all for the compliments.

Few comments on the processing techniques- or lack of them. Pics may have been lightened or darkened using PS levels for JPGs or just RAW exposure control. Most but not all the pics have been sharpened using level 2 Focus magic. I've almost stopped using USM as I don't like the effect it gives- don't know what focus magic does but it is definately different to USM. Noise then reduced using neat Image. Only other thing I've sometimes done is to lighten or darken the main subject in places with PS burn or dodge. I've now swapped to shooting in RAW because at least for heavily cropped images it seems to give more detail (maybe my imagination) but certainly it is useful for correcting exposure although all the above shots were in fact shot in large JPG. The backgrounds etc are all natural as shot.
Should add most of the PICs are cropped from the originals.
Appreciate any comments on this.

all excellent, but this one is even more excellent than the others - fantastic colours, composition and detail Agreed 100%. How are you positioning the flash? Is it on camera or off? Any diffusion?

Agreed 100%. How are you positioning the flash? Is it on camera or off? Any diffusion? From my other thread-
The shots are all taken with the camera in manual setting F11 to F13, 1/200 th sec, Flash gun in ETTL mode mounted off camera on a bracket with a homemade softbox diffuser.
