Greetings All,

I feel I found my passion or the direction I want to take towards Fashion photography and can not achieve desirable effects with my Nikkor 17-35mm without the models becoming distorted so I called my local Camera shop and they have a MINT! Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8 for $1,100 that I want to buy.

Shooting with a Nikon D700 I have the following Nikkor len's in my aresenal:

85mm f/1.8 (Purchased $275.used)
80-200 f/2.8
50mm f/1.8
17-35mm f/2.8 (Paid $900 used)

Unfortunatley raising the $1,100 bucks is no where insight being that wifey and I now contribute to our daugher college fund. I spoke with the store owner and he said he would take my 85mm and 17-35mm for the 28-70mm as an equal trade. The owner also stated that he will hold this offer for me until this Saturday only because I've purchased all of my used lens thru his store.

My question's to all:

-Is this a good deal?
-Do I really need that wide of an angle shot in fashion photography?
-Is 28mm on this lens wide enough for fashion shoot using a D700?

I'm opening to any comments or advise
Thanks in advance

That appears to be a fair trade conisidering you don't have a standard zoom which is probably the most important lens in your arsenal for fashin stuff.:thumb

go for it

Wouldn't losing the 85mm be a bigger deal then gaining the 28-70

looks like a good trade... I am trading my 28-70 for a 10-22 but that is crop and for different purposes.
