Hello,

I've been lurking for about a month now, wanting to wait until I had my site perfect before posting, but I'm having troubles now and I need help.

I've created three new galleries since Wednesday, May 6th and each were password protected. When I visited the albums today to view photos, the albums do not ask for the password, but gives me direct access to viewing photos. I'm not logged in to my site (trying to check/see what others are experiencing when keying in passwords).

My site is www.ashajamesphotography.com (http://www.ashajamesphotography.com).

Currently, the albums are unlisted, but their direct links are below:

April 23 (http://ashajames.smugmug.com/gallery/8070012_Bv3xe/1/529440305_isucV), April 24 (http://ashajames.smugmug.com/gallery/8070068_ksRco/1/529827134_TqMEu) and April 25 (http://ashajames.smugmug.com/gallery/8070168_ZJbf8/1/529973706_gW9Lv)

If anyone can be of help to me that would be great and truly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Asha

Hi Andy!

Man, you're quick!:wave

The thing is, it appears to work okay for me in IE7, but not at all in firefox. Also, I found out it wasn't working from a friend who received the links for the first time today for viewing. They did not work for her on her first visit at all.

I'll try clearing my cookines on both IE7 and firefox, but what gives with obtaining access from a different user?

TIA!

Andy,

How do I clear my smugmug cookies?

-Asha

Went into IE7 Internet Options and selected show cookies, picked smugmug, ashajames.smugmug and ashajamesphotography.com.

I cleared the cookies on both browsers. When I keyed in the password for April 23, 2009 (), I gained access to this album, as well as, the other two without using/entering a password.

Something is wrong. Again, my older password protected galleries are okay, it's just the new ones I created this past Wednesday.

Help?

Help? Hi Asha, I looked at your site and those galleries all have the same password. That is how password protected galleries work. If you use the same password for multiple galleries in a Category or subcategory then you only have to enter the password once instead of multiple times. So after you enter the password once you'll have access to all the galleries in the Cat or Subcat that have that same password.

I password protected a gallery with a unique password early this afternoon, and I could access the gallery with no password for two hours, even logged out. After two hours, I'm not sure how long, the gallery required a password, but for a while, anyone could see the photos. Smugmug has been so VERY SLOW lately, check any galleries you want protected and see if they really require a password; they may be open to anyone until Smugmug catches up.

WayneWhat gallery is this, Wayne? Our password protection is working, we have no validated cases where it's not. The way to tell is to use a separate browser, and you'll see - or fully clear the cookies in the main browser.

Hello Gluwater!:ivar

I did exactly what you suggested and it works like a charm. Each gallery has a different password and you MUST key in that password in order to gain access to the photos. To double check, I went back to having them all the same password and when I gained entrance into one gallery, I had access to the other two without keying in a password.

Thank you so much! Sending you and Andy cyber hugs!!! I truly appreciate the quick turnaround and the warm welcome!:lust

Hi Andy,

The gallery is here: http://www.wayne861.smugmug.com/gallery/8142798_x4SNW#531204033_qrcAE

It works OK now, but it took a couple of hours for the password to be required. First time I have had this problem. I didn't change browsers, it just started working properly.
