I have finally gotten enough confidence to use manual exposure and I am liking my results. I also found this action in CS2 called aged photo which I used on the last photo. Any thoughts?

I love the first. Not really a fan of the aged photo tho.

Eric,

1st two are super! The aged effect doesn't do it for me...

Here are my reactions, Eric.

First, seems like manual mode suits you well, these all look well exposed.

I like the second shot a lot, super effect on the ocean, nice sky color, cool rock. My only thought is that the rock could be a little bit more prominently placed in the composition.

I would like the first shot more if the sky was doing something more interesting. The sunset part is cool, but there seems to be quite of bit of sky that's not as interesting. Again, just my opinion. The composition is sweet, I like the foreground and the people, and the shot tells a story.

The last one is my least favorite. Foreground's blurry and distracting, the color effect doesn't appeal to me, framing somehow seems off, doesn't put put me in the place nearly as well as your first one does. Again, just my humble opinion.

But the first two really have it going on. Nice work, Eric. :thumb

Thnxs everyone I really apreciate the comments.

Sid It's mind boggling sometimes how many things there are to think about when composing and I always find myself rushing. When I got in my car the sky looked so promising, puffy clouds and cool colors, 5 minutes later it was what you see. There is always tomorrow.

I like the first 2 shots the most..........your braver than me, I'm not confident about going manual at all with the new gear.......but I will eventually :D

Thanks for sharing......... Skippy (Australia)

I always find myself rushing.
I wish I could explain it, but I find the same thing. It's very strange. :scratch

I was shooting portraits with Patch29 last weekend and was in such a rush to get the outdoors shots that I absolutely put my brain on hold and made a basic, bonehead error that ruined every shot. :doh

There are times when I force myself to go through a mental checklist of shutter speed/aperature/ISO/exposure compensation (when applicable)/autofocus or manual. And even when I force myself to go through the list, I find it hard to concentrate on it. I assume my mind is anxious to get on with the shot. Very strange.

It's all about preparation and confidence. Slowly I am learning what works for me in different situations. So it is cutting down on my mistakes but I still get such an adrenaline rush everytime I press the shutter I have to literally tell myself to slow down .
