Koninginnedag Amsterdam 2009

Yesterday was Koninginnedag (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koninginnedag). So we went out into the city to party. The weather was hot, the beer was cold and everyone was in a good mood.

3 We started off in the Vondelpark near our house around 10 o'clock. My wife wearing orange (just as I), our friend B wearing Adidas. The baby is B's, not ours.

11 And back home around 17:30 at the beginning of our street where our local pizza place owner is traditionally making a smoke screen.

The only thing that spoiled the party (afterwards), was an attack (http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/05/01/netherlands.royals.queen.car/index.html) on our royal family in another part of the country. 5 people died because of that. In Amsterdam most people were unaware of this, since we don't usually party reading the newspapers or watching the news.

Neat series.

It brings back great memories. We lived in Amsterdam from 1987 to 1990 and enjoyed 3 Koninginnedags. The weather was gorgeous for all of them. One year, the queen passed by our house on the Keisersgracht. What a thrill!

I like amsterdam! such a mixed city. Ive bin there 3 times and we allways go to a bar called " trinity " in red light district. Never stumbled into something like this. Nice series!

I had a 24-hour stopover in Amsterdam and just loved it--such a fun city! This is a wonderful series and I am glad you shared it with us!
