nice composition and subject lynn

i like it-i sometimes prefer a human element in these types of photos-such as a ghosted passer by or dog or something.

when i find a good place, such as shown in your picture, i sometimes hang around for an hour or so until I get some human interest into the scene, say walking into one of the walkways etc.

where did you take it? is it a university or similar?

Very nice. :thumb

I would also think of using desaturate for the B&W and then playing with the color balance and seeing what a tinge of red in the shadow and midtone might do for you. It's excellent on its own though.

A very strikiing photo. I'm glad you did this in B&W, it really brings out the patterns and texture of the bricks. I like it a lot:clap.

http://lynn.smugmug.com/photos/24240676-Ti.jpgLynn,

Both shots are really cool but I find this one hypnotizing! Starring into it you get sucked in to the depth of it, and the lines, horizontal bricks and vertical ones in the arches, almost make me dizzy!

The motion effect in http://lynn.smugmug.com/photos/24248643-Ti.jpg together with the contrasts is also really cool!

Cool shots Lynn, I thought about an extra element in the arches too, but I really like the emptyness of them. Leaves you to focus on the lines, shapes & textures :thumb

I like them both! I agree that the arches in the first one really look like they want someone/thing in them. The second one is spot on! The clock really makes it tick. :thumb

Lynn I don't find that the first one needs more. Tho a stray dog at least wouldn't hurt. The second one is great, love your BW conversion and use of motion...:clapThnxs for sharing.
