What size should the images I post on my website be? I want a quality high enough that people get good prints when they order them from my site but want to do everything I can to keep people from getting my pictures for other uses without my permission. Any input appreciated.

Thanks,
Dayna

See http://www.smugmug.com/help/print-quality for print qualty by print size. That should give you a starting point for making photos available for printing.

I'd recommend uploading the highest resolution you have. That will give you the best quality prints possible and enable the largest size enlargements.

Then, you can separately determine what the largest image size that is made available to your viewers in the customize gallery page for each gallery. For example, you could set the largest viewing size to "L" which would mean that nobody (other than you when logged in) could get access to any image larger than 800px across. Even with a very restrictive setting for this, the original full size image is still used for prints, but is not available via the web.

For pro accounts, even further image protection can be done with a tastefully created custom watermark which will protect the display copies on the web, but does not print.

Thanks. All of this information was very helpful and now I know what I need to do. I really appreciate it.
