View Full Version : Automatic start of slideshow in a SmugMug style gallery ?

Hello!
Is there a way to automatically start a slideshow when a person visits a gallery without loosing functionality and layout of that particular gallery style? I prefer to keep the SmugMug style as a main layout for a gallery, however when somebody visits a page I want either to throw him directly into slideshow (similar to what you get when you press a slideshow button), OR to make that big current picture on the right to start automatically changing to the next one.
It probably doesn't make any sence what I've just asked for but these are my first hours on SmugMug (and first post here) and after reading docs and tutorials I'm still a bit lost...
Thanks.

You can link to the slideshow (use the Share button in a gallery and pick the slideshow option) and put that link somewhere on your site (or sent in an email to someone), but it doesn't make any sense to have the Smugmug view automatically switch to the slideshow.
You either want the Smugmug view or you want the slideshow view - there's no reason to want it to start out in one and then switch to the other. You can force the gallery to either one of those styles (in customize gallery) or you can let the user decide how to view the gallery.
Smugmug doesn't support the functionality of the main image in the smugmug view automatically changing like in a slideshow. They have the slideshow view and they have the full screen slideshow.

Many thanks jfriend for your response! I see now... I can use the proper slideshow gallery style so the visitor will be there as he enters the page, however I understand I won't be able to give him the normal SmugMug style view when he is finally fed up and just wants to pick individual pictures ...
Sorry for my complete ignorance here - as there is this standard button which brings the full screen slide show from a SmugMug style gallery, do you think I can activate this full screen slide show somewhere in the code so it starts as the person opens the gallery page (so he does not need to press any buttons himself to start it)?
Many thanks...

Many thanks John! Just came across your thread on similar issue back in November. Great minds think alike... :wink
Let's hope there is a solution.
