Reversing a 50mm For Macro

I don't know if anyone has seen this on the FM site ,but with thanks to the Fred Miranda site, and Tom Hicks HERE (http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/227149), I reversed a 50mm olympus by cutting the centre out of a body cap and glueing a close-up lens onto the cap so that I can screw the 50mm oly onto the mount reversed. I have not had time to use it yet, it will be fun to compare it with the 100mm canon macro

Thelens cap trick seems like a good idea or a person can just buy a reversing ring (and step-up / step down adapter ring if the front threads dont match). I used to do this on an old olympus OM-4 I had. It works great but everything is manual settings.

A quick test shows that the 50mm shoots aprox 1:1.5 magnification factor with the +2 close-up. Equivalent shooting range of 1.08 ft on the 100mm macro

Not bad for £2.26 for a body cap, a close-up lens I had from my oly and the oly lens :thumb No it's not as sharp as the 100mm, there is no focus, I have to move the camera to the focal point, but both shots were at F/8 and I can go to F/16 on the lens

Thanks I have not seen the reversing ring before, I had only seen the 50mm reversed on the end of a macro lens, giving a focal point of about 1" and 1mm dof
