One time the images are large (good) and other times the images are small (bad).

This happens all of the time. Seriously. It's annoying.

Any ideas?:dunno

:dunno I'm not seeing it and I tried your site a bunch of times.

What browser, what version of flash? Can you reproduce after fully clearing cache?

I see the same thing every once in a while, sometimes the photos show up the correct large size and sometimes they are displayed at a smaller size?

I'm using Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 3.0.8. I have my slide show set up to randomize the photos.

It doesn't happen to every photo in the slideshow, but when it does happen to a photo that photo continues to appear at the smaller size if I let the show recycle through the show a couple of times. If I navigate away from the home page and then go back to the home page the photo will then display correctly in the slideshow although sometimes another photo will be displayed smaller. This is a very random event so it would be hard for you to see.

Firefox 3.0.8 on Mac OS 10.5.6 running Flash player 10.0.22.87.

I clear the cache and it seems to have no affect. One time it looks fine, other times the images are small.

And, it may be me, but some of the images; e.g., the third image of the slideshow, looks blurry in the show, but not in the gallery.

Yeah we got it... it'll take a little while for us to try and replicate, and find out if it's a bug w/ Slideshow. Thanks for your patience.

I just wanted to add that one of the images in my slideshow is showing up blurry also.

Thanks for looking in to it!

I'm getting this same problem.

I'm using custom sized images to take advantage of a wider screen. Sometimes all the images load correctly and sometimes they vary from small to large.

I've tried changing the slideshow line:
SM.flash.insertSlideshow(960, 480, ssConfig, 'transparent');
pixel dimensions with no luck as well as the gallery's largest size.

Any news on this?

Seems that whatever I do causes some issue with Smugmug.:dunno

:dunnoYeah - there are times when things look fine, Andy. If I refresh the screen then usually the correct sizes reappear. I have cleared the cache and restarted, and sometime these small images occur.

I have sent this to our programmer to see if he can shed some light on it. I am afraid that I do not have any status updates.

How about here? Do you still get small images?

http://inerd.net/sstest.html

Are you by any chance using a mac (easier to trace traffic)?

Also, to be clear, if you are using a custom sized slideshow at say 900x700 and the nearest standard size is 800x600 (L) when you first load up the show OR if you're viewing images faster than the server can serve up custom sizes then occasionally you'll see the 800x600 image, thats not a problem. What RogersDA is seeing is most certainly a problem, seeing images much smaller than the nearest standard size is no good.

Right now the bio slideshow settings is for 700x700. Should I increase that to 800x800 to account for the nearest standard size?

Nah,
Your problem probably won't be solved by doing that, I was just mentioning that for the other posters who may just be seeing normal size changes as opposed to you :) Great, you're on a mac, please go install this:

http://www.tuffcode.com/

It has a 14 day trial so its free (for a bit). Install it, run it, give it permissions. Open up your browser, clear your cache (in safari its under the Safari menu 'clear cache'), then open a fresh blank window and go to your SM page. You should now see lots of stuff happening in the httpscoop window, let your slideshow run for several images and you'll see requests that look like this in httpscoop:

http://img.skitch.com/20090908-p9fggcaftta6trcsmmrtur2har.jpg

See how mine say ...-700x700? What do yours say?

Sam

Right now in Safari and Firefox the images are loading correctly (700x700 - except in one case where it it 499x700 as in your example above), even after clearing the cache.

Since the small images appear randomly I will have to run HTTPScoop over the next few days before opening the browser(s) to see if I can capture one of these instances.
