I am looking at buying a Sigma 70-200 2.8F I have a Nikon D50 and I have a Nikon 70-300 1:4-5.6G lens right now which I have used with very good results. As long as there is enough light. digitalmemoiresbyblair.com

The photographers which I have spoken to suggested the Sigma lens listed above.

Does anyone have any advice on which lens to buy? I am not sure about which model.

I am shooting Bicycle races, Horse play days, Rodeos, and a good friend of mine is getting married and I will be helping with some photos.

Thank You
Blair

Sell the Nikon...get the SIGMA 70-200f2.8 and after selling the Nikon lens look at the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5....Look over my site...all the events are shot with a siggy 70=210 APO f2.8.....no regrets with using Sigma......down the road pick up the matching APO Teleconverter for the 70-200

Well I'll admit I've become somewhat of a glass snob since switching to Nikon and am only using Nikon lenses(except one...) but for 800 you should be able to pick up a used Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 for not much more than the Sigma. I got one and LOVE it. Great lens. Just a thought...

I just pick up the Tammy 70-200 HSM, it does search a little in low light. But no regrets, I love it otherwise.

The Sigma with the HSM, Iv'e heard very good things about speed (you may need that for cycling).
Either way you will not regret getting a pro F2.8.

Keep your 70-300 as a backup, mines stored in the box. I mostly use the 70-300 VR version on sunny days now, its easier to carry around, much lass weight than the 70-200.
