View Full Version : Auto-resize for Picasa uploader

I upload my images from Picasa using the uploader button from SmugMug. I don't need full resolution images for most of my posting and it would be great if the SmugMug uploader could work like some other Picasa functions (e-mail and web albums) which auto-resize the images before sending them. At the moment, I'm just uploading full size images and dealing with the slow uploads rather than exporting a second copy of the images in a lower resolution before uploading.
I'm not sure if this is possible, but it would be cool.

I know how you feel since I deal with the same issue. What i found to work is:
a) Export the album you want to upload to a temp folder AND resize all pictures to 1600 side
b) Picasa will quickly add the new folder to your collection (you have to watch the temp folder location already)
c) Upload the new folder to SM.
This method takes maybe 1 minute longer to start but I find my upload times to be cut down huge. If I'm uploading from some village net cafe it makes an enormous difference - 1mb files vs 6mb.
