View Full Version : navigating from gallery to gallery

Is there any chance that there will be navigation between galleries for those of us who organize our photos chronologically? I have categories for years, subcategories for months, and then I name my albums <year month day> (such as 2009 03 31). And then I arrange the albums in order by title in reverse order so the newest ones are at the top of the page.
I sure would like that to be more automatic though.
And, I've thought it would be nice for my family and friends to have a NEXT button somewhere in an album that would lead to the next album chronologically. Does that make sense?
By the way (I hope I can ask a question while I'm here), is there any limit to how much we can back up using SmugMug and SmugVault? I'm approaching 140 GB.

I like this idea. But I would amend it to rather simply include two markers for each gallery: PREVIOUS and NEXT. Where you could set any gallery to be previous or next. By default, the previous/next would be assigned by the creation date of the gallery.

Did you have a look at our timeline (http://www.smugmug.com/help/timeline) feature? That's the closest you can currently get to what you suggest.

Your SmugMug account can take unlimited photos as long as the photos are within our supported files (http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-photos) specifications. When we say unlimited, we mean it.
Since you pay extra for SmugVault depending on how much you store in it, you can upload as much as you want to it as long as you're paying the monthly bills (details on SmugVault pricing (http://www.smugmug.com/price/smugvault.mg)).

Thank you for reminding me of the timeline feature. I do have it showing on my homepage, but I thought it was a cumbersome method and hadn't really used it. Now that I have looked at it again, I think it might be helpful after all. I see once you click on the year, on the next page above the photos you can narrow it further by month. I still wish I could have NEXT and PREV buttons on my galleries, but I'll play with the timeline a bit.
