On the wall in the hallway this evening I spotted this midge which I assume was admiring the paintwork on the ceiling. I had done a terrific job of the painting, cos I hate decorating. Oh, sorry, I digress...
Anyway, this midge was on the wall, looking upwards. To the naked eye, I could see something on the back of the thorax area, a kind of dull gunge, but once I had managed the shot, and put it into the editing suite, it appears to be something akin to pollen. Either that or some disease... Ughh..
This was taken using only the light in the hallway and the light shining from out of the downstairs loo, no fill-in or bounce. Tripod mounted, on timer, mirror-lock up. Lens is the Sigma 105 and all 3 Jessops extension tubes attached, manual focus. Ran Imagenonic Noiseware Pro to help keep the noise down on a separate layer, erased back selectively.
I have a face-on shot I can add later from when the midge flew off to finally alight on the loo lid :-\
