What a great day! I've been hearing and seeing this male Nuttall's Woodpecker at my feeder for a while. This afternoon I saw him in the trees looking my way (my feeder/station/blind). He flew right to the old tree, filled with my peanut butter 'suet' mix (http://www.imagesinthebackcountry.com/blog/?p=122) and got a few pictures!

LOL...it's actually a "pruned" dead Christmas Tree from 2 years ago. I put it in a pot with rocks in the bottom, so I can move it around!

BTW, I was told this guy is a "Nuttall's Woodpecker", not a Downy. What to I know....I'm a landscape photographer....not a bird guy (yet). :rolleyes
