Spring Loons

Some common loons starting to change from their winter plumage to their summer plumage in Maine on a cold day that was spitting snow and gale force winds! This time of year they follow the tide up into Northeast Harbor which offers good access.

Nice series!! We still have ice on the lakes and ponds in MN so we won't see our state bird for awhile.

Thanks for the comments, our lakes in ME are still frozen over but lucky for us we have the ocean and can see loons year round.

Thanks Glenn, loons are going to become an ongoing project for me, to try to catch them in their different look though out the year.
