CS2 Cache

Well, I'm loving CS2.

I have a question about the cache for folders, previews and thumbnails.

I've never used the browser much, so I never exported my caches to the folders. Now that I want to, I went to the top folder and went to Tools>Cache>Build Cache for Subfolders. It took a LONG time, and everything was much zippier when it was done. That was on my G5. Now I'm at work on my Pbook, and it seems to have forgotten all the cache info, so it looks like I'm going to have to go through folder by folder and export the cache.

Anyone have any insight into this, how it works, and how I can make it work for me?

Are you using the same external drives on the different computers?


Do you have the cache set to distribute (put cache file in each folder it works) or centralize (which would keep it in one folder on the computer.

I have gone to distribute so it is with each folder. I don't really want to see the extra files, but at least I know where they are.

I don't know if that will help or not.

I am using the same external drive. I think the "distribute" setting is most likely the answer. I'll try that.

Do it when you have your main (original computer you created the caches on) and it should move them where they need to go and not take too long, no guarantees though. :D
