View Full Version : Too Many Clicks To Start Video Playing

How do I get away from needing to click a thumbnail 4 times before the video plays?

I would like to start with this after the first click to the video page/gallery. http://ronbailey.smugmug.com/gallery/7537459_NhQ9y/1/488994900_6QMf8/Large

I would prefer having the video embedded in the homepage taking the place of the slideshow. That seems to be a whole different animal.

Help on both is appreciated! Thanks.

Ron,

You have the external links turned off, you also have easy sharing turned off. You would need to turn on the External links and Easy sharing to get the code for the video to play in the Bio. All you would need to do is copy that embed code and paste it in your Bio using some HTML tags.

I can do that for you with your permission. Just let me know if you need help.

You bet! Have at it! I'll go in and take a look at what you've done so that I can better understand what I need to do in the future.

Thanks!

Doc,

Thanks! Just what I wanted.

I'll take a look inside and see what you've done so I can get a better grip on things. I sure have a lot to learn but I know I'm in the right place to learn it.

Thanks again!

Okay...I've tried to hide the Gallery that is on the homepage by marking it 'unlisted' but that just stops the video from being run on the homepage. How do I hide the gallery and still allow the video to run?

Is there a way to also add text to the homepage that will run on one side or the other?

Gallery now hidden. Still trying to get the text on the side.

Ron, sorry for not replying to help. I was off fighting other fires and missed it. The last message I saw from you said that you got what you wanted. I did not see the other 2 messages until this morning.

"I would like to enter my gallery and click on the image once to play the video."
(not 3-4 clicks)

I don't have a gallery that does this to show you... oh, wait, here's one that doesn't:

http://www.joinrats.com/gallery/7964152_FQvyv

In this gallery if I click the video, it opens to a new page (but does not start), then I have to click again to start it.)

This is SmugMug style, you have your gallery set to Journal style which doesn't work this way.

If you play your video all the way to the end, the embed code is found at the end of the video. I did that and embeded my video in another gallery. Now it looks like a video...just click the play button :)

The only problem with that is Embeds do not work for HD and Full HD sizes. :rolleyes Just wanted you to be aware of the pitfall of the work around.

Oh thank you thank you! :clap So does that mean if you have a gallery which is all embedded videos from an unlisted gallery, and the gallery where they are embedded is public, they'll be viewable? Does it mean google analytics will count the videos as viewed when they are clicked as an embed?
