Another Custom Hostname CName Problem

I've gone through the DNS look up and verified that my dreamhost subdomain:
subdomain.mydomain.com is pointing to domains.smugmug.com

but when I try to to access my smugmug account through this domain, I get a basic 404 type error.

The subdomain and CNAME record were updated more a week ago... so this should be populated through the internet?

We need to know the domain name in question in order to help.

A 404 error is not a DNS related error, it's an http error where you are trying to access a specific entity at a domain that doesn't exist.
