I went for a stroll along a part of the Wicklow Way this afternoon, info here:

Railway sleepers have been laid along parts of the trail to protect the fauna

Thanks Andy, without a tripod I couldn't get a really high aperature ( and the climb was too steep to bring one) but they turned out ok, enjoy your trip.

Thanks AJ, trying to walk over that ground without the sleepers would be tough,

this is an account from two dutch people who walked all of the Way. A couple of the pics show how soft the ground is.
