gotta be at a zoo, right? Not legal to get that close, unless you have a 16000mm lens :D
cool shots - get the bird to come out of the distracting branches next time. Bring a kitty or something... :lol3

i was also noticing the beak is very light colored. i feel like the ones i've seen were much more yellow. is that an adolescent or young bird?

It's a mature eagle, the juvinile will have a brown head which slowly turns white as they mature. their heads will be streaked with brown for more than a year as they grow.
I think I was told once that the light colored beak was caused by the diet of captive birds and the difference from the "wild diet"
I think the feed captive birds mice or rats, but wild eagles mostly eat fish,
This is what I heard, I could be FOS.

So do people who eat a lot fish will get yellow teeth?:D
This had to of been a much older eagle. While the area was secure from the outside, it was completely open from where I was shooting. Since that was the case they had to of known he wouldn't of flown around. Either way I was foaming at the mouth because I was able to get close and capture an eagle in a tree with sunlight streaming through the branches.

I wonder that as well about my Santa Ana Zoo Eagle he is in an open area. If he could fly away there nothing I can see to stop. I just thought they clip his wings same as I do Maggie's :dunno
