Hello,

I have tried searching Gitzo's site but can't find a good way to clean the tripod. I have the carbon fiber one with the new locking mechanism. Can we just dissemble it? I am afraid I won't be able to put it back together.

Any help?

How bad is it? :dunno

(ziggy imagines all sorts of mud and gunk caking the entire tripod. ziggy has a very vivid imagination. :thumb:wink)

Here's a quick read for you,

I just yanked one of the lower sections off my 3541LS and instead of the A & B bits there is only one larger bushing. At first I couldn't get the leg back in, then I pulled my head out of my butt and lined up the slot to the groove and it went back in. It took all of maybe six or seven seconds to do it so a complete tear down, cleaning and reassemble should only take about a half hour or so depending on how anal one is about the process.
I'd probably just throw it in the shower and dry it off but I'm an idiot like that so you probably shouldn't ever listen to me.http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/2831/moronyo2.gif

My Miss Gitzo thought it would be a good idea to take a swim in the Atlantic, she really enjoyed the body surfing as well. After I gave her a stern talking to, for going into the ocean without proper supervision, I brought her home and put her in the shower for a nice long, warm rinse. It was the sand in the twist locks that really concerned me, though. I used an air compressor and blew out most of the sand but ended up using a small brass brush to make sure I had gotten it all out of the threads. After cleaning I re-greased the twist locks with some good axle grease. I keep Miss Gitzo on a leash now and only let her get her feet dirty.
