This fits the quote in your sig just perfectly! What a wonderful poster it would make. I want to walk that path right now and see what is in the trees. Lovely!

Dwayne - How do you get that softness in your images?

Very nice! I would have tried a vertical wide angle comp too, but I do like the Orton effect (or whatever it was) to soften up the photo.

Very interesting composition, I feel like it may be a trail that Hobbits have passed through. Nice job.

Hey, Dwayne, nice work there. I like the results of your processing. Looks like you've defeated your scrupples against post processing and jumped in headfirst with NX2.

Pretty cool, huh?

Oh, one more thing. One little nit about this image. I think it would help if you cloned out that dark triangular shape in the upper lefthand corner. The one just above the path just as it curves behind the tree. When you follow the trail with your eye up and to the left (behind the tree) you reach that dark trangle. It's too prominent. Clone it out and I think it would help. Or maybe tone down the contrast a bit. I think.

Thanks everyone !!
Here is the soft focus (orton) effect Lauren,
Nikon Capture NX2 (Raw NEF)
1-set levels midtone slider so photo goes brighter (1.5)
2-apply gaussian blur, set radius to (15.85) px and opacity to (100%)
3-set blending mode to multiply
4-readjust levels if needed
Take care,
Dwayne Oakes

Thanks, Dwayne. I found some tips on Orton effect on line also, but my efforts have failed so far. (I'm using Aperture and PS CS4.) I'll try it again. I appreciate your info. I do like the way you use this effect.
