I kind of miss the old color codes. At one time, we had all these things memorized. Now its just silver and green!

The old stuff is very colorful compared to the newer IC boards.

Like the shots and the comparison- seems the only recognisable survivors are the capacitors - obviously have trouble miniaturising them.

Diodes have always been black and silver, but resistors still have color bands than denote their resistance. Some capacitors still have color too. These days many things are greatly smaller than they used to be for sure, but there is still color.

Excellent investigation though. Great photos.

Speaking of old electronics though...where are all the glass tubes? :-D
