Took photos yesterday, 5-26-05 down at Scripps Pier in San Diego. Beautiful place.

I was in Chinese class staring out the window two hours beforehand, wondering what the light was going to be like in an hour.
Got out of Chinese class, drove to the pier and ran down to shore where I saw these kids playing; unfortunately I had passed by the mom on the way down to shore (she must've gone up to go wait in the car), otherwise I would've really loved to give her a free print of the shot.
I can tell the 1DS and I are going to have a long and glorious relationship :rofl :rofl .

What omnimous clouds! There are so many cameras these days I can't keep up!
I used to have a cam site for Scripps pier, it is a very beautiful spot.

I so totally don't have the horsepower for this baby. But I guess it challenges me to only work on my very best images? Hahahaha =). The 1ds takes some getting used to, coming from the 10d, especially in the way 1ds handles noise. It can't be pushed as hard as 10d in this regard.

I don't have anything new to add but I'll say it anyway. Wow! Fantastic! You've got it all, the kids playing, the birds, dramatic sky, excellent composition, great post work. I love it. :clap :clap :clap :clap

Shay, thanks for the feedback man! How has your photography been going? What have yah been focusing on these days?
Good memories of some of your shots. I love the one of the moon rising over Vancouver (I think?) and one of your funnier ones was the self-portrait with multiple overlapped photos.
Great times!

David, good to hear from yah man! Thanks for the kind words. I base my level of contrastiness largely on what I see when I browse through the work of some of the greats that I look up to, specifically Sebastiao Salgado. His B&W interpretations just leap out at you... not because of blown out highlights or anything like that, but rather because of rich blacks. Get the blacks right, and everything follows.
