Zoom would not turn past 70 mm on my 28-135 EF. What is the process to send it in for warranty work? Where do I send it? How long? I am woefully unprepared for this. I guess this means I am still an amatuer.

Go to Canon and find the nearest repair place by you and call them. Hope things will turn out well. My 50mm broke in January so I know the feeling and it is not under warranty anymore.

Stuff happens. :dunno
Like Moogle Pepper said, use the Canon repair site to request a repair and they will issue an estimate:

If you need a lens for a particular event or project, check with a local camera club to see if any members might be able to help with a loaner lens or go to one of the rental sites in our thread:

Whichever way you go, you should remain flexible about lens choice if you cannot find an exact substitute.
