http://timebandit.smugmug.com/photos/21981377-L.jpg Very nice series. What distance were you from your subjects? I envy you this kind of closeness to the chicks and the backlighting.

Kirwin,
You got impressive sharpness for backlighting, it doesn't detract from the images. Good job and very nice series. :thumb

Kirwin, really good shots, there.
What is going on with these chicks now?
Gotta make my shooting schedule here,:rofl , this is getting rediculous. But we have a festival here, big deal, I like it, the music especially. But my commitments, like the birds. Would hate to go to the rookery in a couple of weeks and find it deserted.
And, do they all stay in the area with one gigantic population explosion, or do they all fight, then leave?
I know a book could tell me, all this takes time. I have to do something about my hard drive, or I won't be shooting anything.

Outstanding series once again from the dgrin folks, and to you Kirwin in particular! :thumb :clap :clap :clap
I think that you guys are the pictorial audubon society :D
The last image is my fav, of the two kids looking up to mom with the best expressions. The lighting is wonderful and the WB, etc. are superb.

I was approximately 40 to 50 feet from the nest. I was at 420mm on the cam, and of course the images have some cropping. Appreciate your interest in the images!:D

Hi Ben,
I'm glad they check out OK. I just recently acquired a laptop, and it has taken a bit of time to get used to processing images on a briteview lcd screen. As I continue to work more with this type of screen... the more comfortable and enjoyable it is compared to working at a desk top! Thanks for the input!!:thumb
