Ohhhhhh... Thanks for taking me back 30 years ian! Surfed Cocoa Beach FL for 4 years back in the early 70's.
Good catch on the cut. Sorry you cut off the tip of the board...

You're welcome!
Tough day. Tide was high and I was shooting from the cliff with the 500.
You should see what got tossed :D

Nice one Ian :thumb :thumb
From the cliffs @ 500mm, I figure you must have gotten some nice toe shots too.....lol This is an even better shot, knowing you were stuck at a 650mm FOV :clap

When I say "tossed" I mean gone--pfft. No longer accessible. But let's just say I
had more than a few knees and boards :D

Thanks for looking!
I think it would have gone better with a more controllable platform. Like the
Wimberely. I was shooting with the monopod and given the guys were at my feet,
it's tough to position the camera.

IC... Ok Knees and boards... :rofl Those may have made for interesting "artsy" shots, if cropped right. But, maybe next time.
I'll keep my eyes open for more of your surf shots. :thumb

Great stuff Ian! I was going to ask how you get the faces from that point, and see the help with the photos by rob. Very nice shots you guys! My husband and son surf. Never had a camera for it until now, wished I had done things like that when I was young!:):
I take it you have to at least have a 400mm? :thumb

I take it you have to at least have a 400mm? :thumbDepends where you are shooting from. That shot was made with a 500mm
lens and there's no crop done to the image.
For that particular day and from where I was shooting from, something in the
200-300 range would have been a better choice.
