View Full Version : Camera for a Four Year Old?

My daughter's birthday is next month and we want to get her a camera since she likes to tag along with me while I do photography and look at the photos we shoot.

Obviously, I'm not looking for anything spectacular. I don't really want to spend much more than $50. I've found quite a few in that general price range, some are even pink or purple which she'd love. But, I've never owned a point and shoot camera in my life so I don't know much about most of them. What I'd really like is one that is EASY for her to use - most importantly easy for her to pull up and look at the photos on the LCD after she shoots them. I'd like to stay away from complex menus and for the main controls. Switches and buttons would be better.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a cheap, easy to use camera for a four year old girl?

Target has a couple of digitals for younguns.....one I believe is called JAZZ and I think polaroid also has one on the market......they either are simply internal memory or may have a SD slot............

Thanks for the input everyone. After reading through the suggestions and some reviews, I think I'm going to get her this little gem:

I like the large LCD. It may not be as tough as the fisher price, but she's a very careful and smart kid so I think she'll be ok with this one. I can get a refurbished one for around 50 bucks and they use SD cards, which is a plus.

He has a little Fisher-Price digicam too, but he doesn't like to use it nearly as much.

The first thing I taught my kids was how to use a camera strap. :thumb (It scares me to let adults handle a camera without using the camera strap too.)
