Thanks everyone...'Bohemian on acid' is the only way i can describe the place. You can wear anything from horns to chainmail & no-one takes any notice.

I was always on the look out for a drink of sasaparilla...i love the stuff here (bit of a regional taste here in 0z as our southern states dont seem to have it on the shelves) As i was at the airport leaving i went to buy a drink & saw some 'root beer' ..i thought i'd better give it a go as i had never had it before..guess what ? It was sasaparilla to my delight !! Funny that.

This is my favorite shot...i just keep wondering what was going through the persons mind as they wrote it. It was up about 4 storys in a city office building. Good to see they got the N correct...thats how its always written & should remain so.

Just copy & paste the whole page will do it. I normally wouldnt take a photo like that but i was taking a shot when she walked straight though the field of view.

Mobile (cell phone) to one ear...coffee spilling everywhere & i heard part of the conversation..."I like said to him...like i said to him.... you know"

How typical of the steet i thought.

:lol OK, that's a record.

There was an old British comedian named Tommy Cooper who moved so fast "Didja see that" that you couldn't see anything change; he actually never moved at all.

You just pulled a Tommy Cooper. It went and came back so fast no-one even saw it move. :lol3

Hi Gus................ I've just been looking at all your pictures from you trip....looks like you had an absolute ball :thumb Yosemite looks like a really pretty place to visit, who knows, I just might get there someday :D

Your shots from San Fran bring back memories, we went to Alcatraz when we were there, and an X Prisoner was there doing a book signing at the time.

Did you ever see that movie The ROCK ?

I don't know about you Gus, but where I live there are no mountains, and seeing all the images that you and the other folks who went on this trip took of those mountains is just amazing.

You've done a great job Gus....nice to see your work......good job :clap

Thanks for looking guys...i loved shooting the place. Shomething different every few steps.

SKip was going to alcatraz but there were just toooo many tourists there & i decided to stay getting the streets. Clothes shopping was unbelievable...jeans for $20 !!!

Allen the terrain was great...i walked those hills for 2 days trying to get the street cars. You see the guys on the skateboards..? I tried to pan them but im not quick enough. Amazing to see locals doing 30mph on them just cruising past heading straight down those hills with a smoke in his hand :huh

and I just don't think of taking pictures like you did Gus!

My grandson flipped out when I showed him San Francisco's E-4 fire truck! They have an E-4 where he lives. His parents and mom take him to all the fire stations and when they make friends, they come back with home baked cookies, which CJ (4-year-old grandson) helps make.

I posted a thread requesting fire truck pics be sent to him, I know he'd love to see some Australian fire trucks!

When they went to London and Sweden they visited a couple of fire stations. They even went to Nasa Ames to see their fire department, and since they don't usually get young visitors, CJ left with a bunch of goodies!

I enjoyed the sea lion shots and the crab cooking photos a lot.

I could never get tired of shooting that place....consider the fire truck photo's on the way (may take me a little while).

Your fire trucks over in merica are soooo much louder than ours here...absolutely deafening !

Our sirens are loud? :-) Consider everyone is walking around with ipods plugged in, cell phones plugged in, cd players and walkman's plugged in their ears, they have to be loud.
:):

You made me see San Francisco in a new light, it's been almost 20 years since we moved out here, and I'm a bit jaded... like when we lived in NY/NJ we never went into the city -- too much traffic, parking problems, etc. Now I'm sorry I didn't take more pictures when I worked in the city and commuted every day. Oh well... but I can make time to go to San Francisco and take some downtown and wharf area photos, and I will soon. I did spend a bit of time photographing all the Hearts in San Francisco. You can see a few of them here, if you're interested. Tony Bennett's heart was one of the last ones completed.

Drive with loud music or a cell phone going here & you wont make it 20 feet before you have a copper in your rear view mirror. Its against the law here ($$$ fine) & they enforce it with great vengence !!

Walk with headphones & you will get to see why 0zzies are possibly the worst drivers i have ever seen anywhere else in the world...the footpath isnt safe. I found american drivers to be very patient & cool headed.

Loved your hearts...they reflect light so well.
