Hi Y'all,
For a few years now we have had a northern harrier hanging out at the wetlands. He has been a rather aggravating type as he makes frequent appearances but usually just outside decent shooting distance. A favorite move of his seemed to be to fly past my car's windshield and then as I scrambled out of the car to fly off giving me a marvelous view of his butt.
During the MI VI shoot he did his windhsield number again. Against my better judgement I got out of the car to get the traditional harrier butt shot. This time he decided to circle my car five times.

Excellent captures Harry. :thumb I wanted to attend MI VI but the wife couldn't get that week off. We were able to get down there the following week. We visited relatives on the west coast but got over to the wetlands on friday and spent the day shooting. It was well worth the side trip.

Nice set and funny story, Harry. Great look from him in that third shot. But number 5 takes it for me with the incredible detail :thumb

Nice! :thumb
There are plenty of these guys around here. I have yet to get a really good shot of one. They tantalize you with there slow flight while hunting. They are usually just over the top of the vegetation, making focus a nightmare.
So...congratulations, Harry! :clap

Congrats on these terrific shots Harry. It's been my experience that Harriers don't stick around long enough for you to get a decent flight shot of them, but you beat the odds with this series.

Great images all. I have never had much capturing images of birds, but I keep trying when I have the opportunity
I am always amazed at the quality of bird images on these pages.

Thanks Louie and it was unusual for him. I think he had his eye on some prey. I don't expect it to happen again.
