I've been active on a few other forums and after lurking for a few days, I'm finding that this is a pretty is a pretty cool place. It's good to find a forum with so many local (and not so local, of course) shooters.

So, I thought I drop a note out here and share some of my work. I'm mostly an HDR guy, but things are a-changin' the more I shoot with friends of mine. Here's a shot I grabbed of the captain's chair while on tour of the USS Hornet in Alameda, CA.

BTW: I did a quick search on the FAQ and I didn't seem to find the maximum allowable image size. I went with "L" from my Smugmug gallery, but of course *I* think that it looks better larger! :D

Fantastic HDR - nice finish (love the wing mirror in the top centre - must help when pulling out into traffic !!) Is this in a naval dockyard?
Cheers, Richard.

R.Jay,

The USS Hornet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Hornet_(CV-12)) is a local floating museum that is permanently moored at the Alameda Naval Air Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alameda_Naval_Air_Station) here in the San Francisco Bay Area. There are a couple of other ships adjacent to the Hornet, but you can't get on them.

Here is more (http://www.anvilimage.com/2009/01/o-captain-my-captain.html) about my trip to the Hornet on my photo blog (http://www.anvilimage.com).

Also: USS Hornet Official Homepage (http://www.uss-hornet.org/)

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Joe, and welcome to the Dgrin Forum.
This is a really cool HDR shot of the Captains Chair, gosh I can almost smell the leather from here :D

Do you shoot 3 images for your HDR's or more?

I love this shot :clap the Captains Chair looks 3D and really stands out.
The warm colours add to that "indoor feel" to the cabin.

I hope you will share more of you HDR creations with us,
there are quite a few people on this forum interest in HDR.

Thank you for sharing this awesome shot,
enjoy the forum, I for one am looking forward to seeing more from you :thumb

Skippy,

Thank you, thank you!

This image was 3 RAWs shot hand-held.

I have quite a few more projects in the works, but a monitor and color calibrator failure is slowing me down a little. Both are being replaced and more pics will (hopefully) show up soon!

Thanks again,

-joe

An otherwise boring shot and you made it incredible!
Great finish.
