Smooth my scrolling text

Hi All,
I have added the below html code to my custom header section right after my navbar. The text is right where I want it but it doesn't scroll smooth it is very jerky. Is there something I can do to make it scroll smoothly across the screen.

While we're at it how do I make the text bigger and different colors?

Or is there a different way to do this that is easy to change the text, I want to use this to advertise specials and draw attention to new photos.

Marquee, very very olde school, I can't honestly recommend it at all, I'm very sorry to say :( My recommendation is to do something else, anything but marquee.

Do you mean don't use the scrolling text or just that there is better ways to add scrolling text?

If there are better ways what are they?
