This Saturday, finally took the plunge, packed some snowchains into the boot(thanks ian!), and headed of in the rented avenger to Yosemite.
The high inclines, and the old priest grade really made her whine(150 horses pulling 3500 pounds...) but in the end it was worth it.
High flow of falls(well not as high as April, but pretty high for 31st jan), and the snow around painted a very pretty picture.
Pics are being processed... And I will keep posting as they keep coming!
On the way, while going

Though the flows were nowhere near the "april-may" flows, plentiful sunshine meant the flow was more than normal.
Here is the bridal veil. Took from parking lot. The spray made it impossible to head closer

downstream, this is the stream from bridalveil. The forest is a little overexposed in this shot

One of the shots that I like

Light was very harsh. Exposing for sky meant dark stone, otherwise blown sky, however I did manage a few passable shots

Merced river(I think I have the name right!?)

The meadows are full of snow this time of the year

Mirror lake was frozen except for a small section where it was still, well mirror

Got a friendly reindeer on the way to Yosemite falls

BTW reindeer shots were ISO1600, but still could not get the shutter speed I desired

First went to Falls view, and later to Yosemite falls lower, falls view had a nice view as the harsh light had diminished somewhat

Thanks for your comments guys.
After the waterfalls, we ate dinner, and then raided the meadows for the night shots
The snow was getting overexposed

What a great little road trip! Nice touch with the night shots, too - those are always worth the wait. :D

Thanks for sharing! I never get tired of seeing shots from Yosemite because everyone brings quite a different tale to the table. :thumb

I really like your night shots. I never thought of trying them when I was there.
