Ginger-
Number 2 is a great shot, but I like Number 1 the best. You get the feeling you are listening in on a private conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Heron. Have a great weekend.

Hi ginger
I actually prefer teh full photo (#2) as I really like the light. However, have you tried cropping vertically rather than horizontally? Still frame the birds faces but get more of their lower bodies rather than wings. I think it is worth a try.

Thanks, Ann, et al. Funny, I did do a whole lot of work on a vertical crop.
I clicked on the X instead of the thing that would save it, then wondered what the question was that PS was asking me. Answered it wrong. Lost that photo.
Decided it was late, 4AM, went to bed.
Will try the vert crop later, out of town company, with more of the bottom of the photos. I am trying out the less is more idea.
Resolution is important here.

Thanks all, Harry, too.
My company (friend and husband) is going to take a carriage ride today and spend the day with us tomorrow. GOOD!
We knew each other, were very close, as in a novel, for the first ten years of raising children, both in our twenties.
As she said in an e-mail, "We were living the American Dream". She is not fond of old age, about 65, as it has happened to her, her husband has early alzheimer's, etc. And SHE is worried about money. Just got back from Europe.
But she said she would take us for dinner tomorow night, Hallejuia!
Anyway, I could work on photos for hours: if I wanted to.:rofl
