My bro's 40th birthday party was held at the Mary Jane ski area here in Colorado. What a hoot! There were some smokin' good skiers there!

Parts of the day were pretty cloudy, and in general it was hard to get good lighting. I tended to shoot higher shutter speeds (~ 1/1000) to freeze the little particles of flying snow as good as I could.

No surprise, you know what you're doing. Maybe use a little bit of strobe to fill in the shadows and make the colors really pop.

Looking good in the action department! Maybe a little dark and as Tim says, could benefit from some fill flash.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I agree, I think a little fill flash would've helped. I tried it once with the on camera flash, but it didn't stay pace with my shooting.

I need to experiment with my flash to see if it'll keep up. I was shooting these in bursts of 5 fps most of the time. Now I'm armed with a new battery pack on my D700 so I can't wait to try it at 8 fps. I suppose at low levels the a "real" flash should keep up - I'll have to see.

Hey Wes. Go get some pix of your pops on motorcycles too.
