View Full Version : question about sharing

I tried to share a gallery to a yahoogroups mailing list (we exchange photo links all the time on this list). The group is sent to only accept text email, so right away the email is rejected because it is HTML and contains an image. So then I tried embedding the link (I used the links option) in a post to the list, but yahoogroups rejected it as containing a virus. Any clues? I had just posted successfully to this list a few minutes earlier, so it isn't my email program that has the virus.

The technical message from Gmail said this :
"Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 we cannot accept this message because it appears to contain virus (#5.7.1) (state 18)."

Thanks!

Go to the gallery in your browser. Copy the URL from the URL bar in the browser. Paste that URL into a plain text message that you send to the list and tell them they can click on the link to see your gallery. If the list only accepts text messages, that is all that you can do.

That is exactly what I did, and I got the error message I posted above, about the link containing a virus. I then sent an email with no link to the same mailing list, and it was accepted without a problem. Clearly there is a problem with the link - yahoogroups thinks it contains a virus. I should note that we post links on the list all the time, so it isn't just that there is a URL in the message.

SmugMug is also blocked at my workplace when no other photo site is blocked.

What exact link did you post?
