New Member Questions.....am I missing something???

Hello All,

Just got a trial membership here at Smugmug after very disappointing lack of support over at Pbase. So far, things look good here, but I think somehow I must be missing some of the finer points of SM. For example, browsing through the galleries seems very awkward--i.e I like the "popular galleries" feature on Pbase which allows you to scan galleries not contrained by topic/keyword, but rather by the number of positive votes each image/gallery receives. I'd really like a better way to wade through people's cats and kids pictures and get to the good stuff....Also, on the home page, it seems like there are only galleries featured for the "pro, user, and Etc. categories......I also really like the Pick a Day galleries on Pbase, again anothervway to see diverse work as an intro into some really great galleries......So if I only wanted to see 4-star and higher rated images, is there a way to browse the galleries that way???

BTW, even though I'm only a trial member, the support here has been excellent so far!!!

Actually there are four ways to browse galleries in SM.
1. by keywords (click on keywords at the bottom of the homepage)
2. by categories (click on browse)
3. by searching through keywords/galleries/users (searchbox at the top)
4. by communities (actually I find no link for it on the homepage

Nevertheless...you can use the direct link to communities (http://www.smugmug.com/community/).

Apart from that I don't think a way to browse galleries by rating exists, but it sounds like a good idea. :thumb
Let's just make a feature request out of it.

BTW: If you decide to stay with SM and you didn't already use a coupon while signing up you can save yourself 5$ (I get a bonus, too) using my coupon (KsUKGc8HmF46c). Just ask the SM-team and I think they'll grant you the discount even though you're already in your trial. :D
