Hi,
I'm new to DGrin, I found it through Smugmug after smuggling some photos from Flickr..
Thought I'd share a few recent shots.. I could use some suggestion on how to make the best out of my crappy Nikon Nikkor 70-300 lens. I'd like to be able to get sharper pictures, but even with a tripod I have little luck at extended lengths.

the bird pictures (Top palm warbler, bottom Bald Eagle) are at the Viera Wetlands, in Viera, Florida
The Middle one is a Diamond Backed Terrapin hatchling I found in my pool
Enjoy--

:thumb Most of your images are fantastic taken at 2 of my favorite places in Florida. I do believe that the Great Blue might not be what you think. There is a great Blue type wading bird that sneaks up from the Keys. I'll try to remember and get back to you. A lot of us here frequent Vierra. By the way I suspect that what you are contending is a crappy lens might not. It seems to do a great job in most circumstances. Also your images didn't appear on my screen from your post. Your gallery is great.

Jamie, I just finished reviewing your Sumgmug Gallery, and your Caracara site. I must say that you have taken a number of outstanding photographs of our Florida Birds and wildlife. We look forward to seeing more of your work.

You have some great galleries and these three are nice. In fact, I recognize that eagle. It's rather famous around here as is that stick for a perch. :D I like caracaras too. They are expanding their range here in Texas. They used to be exclusively a south Texas raptor, but now they can be seen well into the N. Central Texas area.

Yep, I have a thing for caracara. I did and still do work researching population and distribution here in my county.
Personally (bring on the missiles) I find Eagles not so exciting. Maybe it's because I see so many of them on a regular basis. Out at the wetlands I'm generally not one of the crowd of people who stop to adore and photograph them. Mostly because I enjoy the free time when no one is getting the good shots elsewhere!
I've been working on customizing my site a little.. let me know what you think..

70-300 VR is a very niceand fast lens. I have one of those now
Use the 80-400 VR mostly.
24-120 VR is one of my favorite lenses for playing around and at events:>))
Keep up the good work and welcome to the addiction
