Is anyone using Vista and Windows Movie Maker to edit HD videos, maybe outputting to .wmv HD files?

I use a Sony HC7 HDV and just recently got a computer that should allow me to crunch some HD footage (quad core processor, ~1tb+ hard drive space, 3gb ram, 28" HDMI monitor) but wanted to try the free Windows Movie Maker before branching out and buying a more powerful software.

Any thoughts? Microsoft's site gives some workflow steps for it here:

If you find out how, let me know as I am in the same boat. (as of today, without the updated computer:dunno )

Here's what I know so far - I imported the file from my HDV via firewire using the HD import option in Windows.

It looked and edited fine in WMM, however when I saved / published the file, the video only shows the top half of each frame.

So I went back and imported it as high res HDV through Windows, and then saved /published it as 1080p in WMM and it looks great - lemme know what you think:

I use Vista and MovieMaker all the time and all my posted vids have been edited in MM. What do you want to know?

Basically the best way to import HDV tape (via firewire or HDMI) and properly output it as a high-def .wmv file.
