Sunday Jan 4,2009 I returned home about 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day, clear blue sky with a bright moon overhead as it was about 1 hour before sunset. The day before I had coupled my TC1.4 E II to my new 300mm AFS f/4 Nikor lens and thought this would make a good subject to test it out. As it turns out I didn't care for the color image below (featureless blue sky) so converted it to B&W which I think is more dramatic. What do you think?

Hi Jack.....IMO, the B&W is by far the best picture....And is really well done:thumb

I'm envious of the pic. and the D700.......:D

Hey Jack,

Being the color freak that I am, I would usually vote for the color version. In this case, however, I'll go with the B&W. It seems the moon is clearly sharper in that one. Terrific shot either way, though. I see you're really enjoying your new D700.

Thanks Azzaro
I really am loving this camera...more complex and ergonomic than the D80 but it takes awhile to get used to.

Thanks joel. I used a wireless remote shutter release and that make a big difference.

That means an awful lot to me Aaron. Funny, you are one of the many photographers on dgrin that I hope one day to be as good as. I have always admired and envied your fantastic landscape images of the various western national parks.

Thanks Tom
I am definitely enjoying the D700 and hope someday to be able to take full advantage of it's capabilities.

Nice one! The BW conversion is definitely more dramatic to me.
Excellent sharp from that lens of yours. Did you have a tough time
acquiring best focus?

Fantastic shot, the B&W is by far my favorite of the two.
