I was surprised that this doesn't seem to have been asked before; I don't see anything about this in the FAQs or in search results on dgrin. If it has been asked before, please point the way!

Anyway, is it possible to buy prints of my own photos on smugmug without enabling the shopping cart option? When I enable the shopping cart, the 'buy' menu is broken into two sections, with more options for 'owner buy'. Is that 'owner buy' option hidden in some menu when the cart is disabled, and I'm logged in to my account?

I'd like to be able to easily get a print for myself, but not necessarily allow anyone that can see the gallery to do so. I have a basic SmugMug account.

Thanks!

Jonathan

At your account level, you will just have to normally keep the prints option disabled, then when you want to buy prints enable it, place your order and then turn the prints option back off.

With a power or pro account, you could leave the prints option on, but hide the buy and cart buttons for viewers with custom CSS, but have them showing when you are logged in.

If you are worried about someone else stumbling across the gallery while the prints option is enabled, you can also set a password on the gallery for the time that the prints option is enabled and then clear that password when you disable prints again.

Cool, maybe I'll look into what other features upgrading would get me.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Many people do the same thing with the Share button. They have it enabled when logged in so they can easily get links to images and galleries, but they hide it when not logged in so their visitors don't get easy access to that functionality. This just requires one line of custom CSS.
