I tried to bring the face out of a deep shadow without making it obvious.

Nice reflection and it looks like it recovered well in PS4 because it looks like you took this image in some harsh light.

Learning PS will help make the winter pass. Hopefully I will be knowledgeable enough when the spring and my shooting opportunities are here.
Thanks, Bob.:D

Very nice Ric, you did a good job with the shadows. :thumb My only nit would be the blur that seems to have been applied to the water.

I agree Ric, between CS4 and LR2 it's like starting all over. I joined NAPP and their online video tutorials through Kelby Online training are excellent, much easier than reading book after book. Plus they are always adding new and updates.
They have downloadable sample files to follow along with each session (which are short with excellent video quality) and you can watch them over and over. For the price of about 3 books you have a one year subscription (and they have monthly subscriptions too). Lynda.com is excellent too but a bit more pricey.
Here is the link to NAPP if you are interested (lots of perks and discounts too).. NAPP website (http://www.photoshopuser.com/register.html&aid=uofaur&code=friend)

:rofl I can see why you would think that. It's strong current. They were pumping water from one side of a dike to the other with a huge portable pump with a pickup hose of about 16" in diameter. This shot was near the inlet with the grebe just out of the strongest current. You can kind of tell by the ripples in front of the grebe.
