Jeff I know the feeling. Recently I posted a series of shots of the lesser tern. Like your bird that tern's dark eye is set against black feathers and there is just no way (within my limited abilities) to bring out the eye detail w/o blowing out completely the accompanying white body. Its just like a bird to have a black head and white body. They can be evil creatures,
